FENN SPORTS REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 23, 2017

VARSITY HOCKEY

With a reduced roster, Fenn scored a hard-fought 3-0 shutout over a talented Rivers School squad on February 17. Fenn only had eleven skaters in the lineup, as six players were absent due to injury and illness. Nico Martinez, Conor MacLean, and Ben LaPlante scored for the blue-and-gold, while Ben Ferrell, Nico Bowden, and Nate Crozier were solid between the pipes.

Fenn varsity is 7-3-1.

Next: February 24 versus Dexter School in the final game of the season.

JV HOCKEY

Fenn JV split a pair of games this week. On February 15 at Pike School in Andover, Fenn fell behind 4-0 before defenseman Mikey Bean connected in the final stanza. Despite the loss, coach Jason Rude reports that Fenn played solid two-way hockey and was buoyed by good goaltending by Byron Woodman and Finley Stevens.

On February 16, Fenn outscored Park School, 6-4, at Valley Sports, powered by a Ben Cook hattrick. Fenn connected twice in the opening period and the two teams exchanged second-period goals. Leading 4-2 in the third, Fenn's top line of Luke Swaim, Kevin Bertocci and Ben Cook applied steady pressure and it paid off in the form of another Fenn tally. Park responded with a pair of goals, but Mikey Bean gathered a loose puck in the defensive zone and launched a rink-long shot into the empty net to seal the 6-4 victory.

Fenn's JV record is 2-4.

Next: February 23 versus Rectory School in the final game of the season.

VARSITY BASKETBALL

Fenn hosted St. Sebastian School on February 22. Coach Peter Bradley's team held a 26-17 halftime advantage and held on for a 46-42 victory. Stuart McCallum scored 14 points while Aroon Sankoh had 10.

The win moves Fenn's record to 9-4.

Next: February 24 versus Lawrence Academy in the last game of the season.
