VARSITY BASEBALL
Fenn’s varsity baseball team has showcased an awesome display of offensive might this season, having outscored opponents by a 49-4 margin in the last three games.
Up against Middlesex School on May 3, Fenn connected for 15 hits en route to an 18-1 victory. The boys in blue-and-gold took an 3-0 first inning lead and held a 5-1 advantage after three. He also contributed offensively with two hits and three RBI. Additionally, Conor MacLean connected for two hits and three RBI. Nico Martinez notched two hits, while Carter McCray brought home two runners.
Prior to that big win, Fenn outscored Fessenden School, 12-1, on April 28. Ben Carbeau notched three hits and three RBI, in addition to throwing five strikeouts in five innings on the mound. JV BASEBALL
Not as much offense showing on the JV team, but the boys picked up a win nonetheless on April 28 at Fay School. Elias Turk pitched a complete seven inning game and one run crossed the plate as Fenn edged Fay, 1 – 0. The win was the JV team’s first of the regular season, as rain had played havoc with the schedule.
A highlight of the game was first baseman Andre Vlahakis’ great play in the fifth inning, as he scooped up a bad throw and rushed to the bag to get an important out.

VARSITY LACROSSE
Fenn’s varsity lacrosse team relished in a three-game home stand this past week. On April 26, Fenn overcame a six-goal deficit against Fay School to rally for the win. Ninth grade captain Riley Gustafson showed extraordinary effort to keep Fenn in the game with some amazing defense and takeaway checks. With just two seconds remaining in the game, midfielder Teddy Lisa served up a nice pass to senior captain Nico Bowden, who tossed it past the Fay goalie to tie the game at 11-11. In overtime, it was Lisa with the game winner, 12-11 the final.
On April 27, a tired Fenn team faced off against a highly skilled and athletic Boston College High School squad. This was a close one in the first quarter at 3-2, BC. Nico Bowden scored a pair of goals for Fenn. Eighth grader Peter Cook added another but it wasn’t enough as Fenn fell to BC High, 8-3.
Fenn got back on track on May 3 by outscoring Shore Country Day School, 15-10, to edge the blue-and-gold record back over the .500 mark.

JV TENNIS
Fenn’s JV Tennis team split a 4-4 decision against Pike School of Andover on April 24 in Concord. Both squads featured strong hitters at the singles positions, and play was evenly balanced throughout the ladder. Max Winneg (#2) and Wes Kleiman (#3) won their singles matches for Fenn, while Miles Berry (#1) and Adam Ewing (#4) dropped close decisions, both by 6-4 scores. Winneg worked quickly and rode a couple of service breaks to a 6-2 victory; Kleiman played patiently on his way to a 6-3 win. Fenn also claimed the #2 and #3 Doubles matches, with Matt Nicholas and Alex Brady pairing effectively in the second spot to fashion a 6-3 advantage, and Charlie Groome and Ethan Mullen breezing in the third, 6-1.
On April 28, Max Winneg and Miles Berry led the JV team into action at Worcester Academy’s handsome Gaskill Field courts, playing their best tennis of the young season on the first hot afternoon of the spring. Winneg was exceptionally focused at #1 Singles, responding with excellent groundstrokes to his opponent’s topspin and stiff, if somewhat erratic, serve. Though he dropped the final two games of a close match, Winneg played very well. Berry won, 7-5, against a strong volleyer at #2, and Wes Kleiman squeaked out a 7-5 decision at #3, as well. Tim Hibben raced through the fourth singles match, winning at love in less than twenty minutes.
Doubles played favored Worcester Academy. Ethan Mullen and Charlie Groome were the only Fenn pair to claim a set of doubles, overcoming a shaky start to win five of their last six games and submit a 6-4 scorecard. In the end, Fenn registered its second straight 4-4 draw of the week.
