Meet Mim Van Orman, a learning specialist at Fenn for twenty-one years.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Fenn?
A: Watching boys gain confidence in language arts and, in turn, themselves. Developing connections with them that last beyond their time at Fenn—going to their high school graduation and college graduation parties; having breakfast with them on their school breaks and witnessing their maturation as they grow older.
Q: What do you hope boys will come away with after working with you?
A: I hope they remember the “Van Orman Writing Rules” and that they feel that tutoring was indeed time well spent honing their academic and life skills.
Q: What are your passions and interests outside of Fenn?
A: Mentoring a young lady [from a Roxbury after-school program whom Mim met at a Concord church fundraiser] for thirteen years; traveling in this country and abroad with my husband, Wayne; hiking in national parks and taking cruises, making jewelry, voraciously reading new fiction, and baking.
